Embrace the Dew!

Wow. Spring time is upon us, and summer is just a blink away.

While everyone else is rejoicing in the sun and warm weather, oily skinned gals are cringing everywhere. What do we do to curb the oil? Do we even try? What are we to do?!

While I have been blessed with relatively "good" skin, I do suffer from the occasional break-out. I also have a sensitivity to sunscreen, so I tend not to wear it unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary. I know...it's not good, but I feel like I've tried every one on the market and I breakout from every one of them. :(

I think I'm throwing in the towel of controlling the "dew" during summer. What is the "dew"? Well, the "dew" is that oily, moist look us oily skin peeps get when the heat and humidity join forces against us. It usually occurs about an hour after washing our faces and applying makeup.

See the picture above.

Yeppers, that's me. Excuse the hair. I'm transitioning out of a series of tragic hair catastrophes. More on that later.

I'm really trying to embrace my shine. Excuse me, my "dew". I'm settling on a my normal skin care regimen followed by a simplified makeup routine for the summer.

Face:
Light dusting of MAC Mineral Skin Finish Pressed Powder (Medium Deep)
MAC Blot Powder Pressed (Dark)

Eyes:

Random brown shadow from MAC
MAC Prep & Prime lashes
MAC Studio Fix Mascara

Lips:
Random brown liner
Golden lip gloss whose name has long since worn off

Sorry for the incomplete information, but my point is simplifying my summer look. On closer inspection, I realized I wasn't accomplishing much by using harsh oil control lotions and powdering down my face.
So, I encourage all oily girls out there: EMBRACE THE DEW!

Hello...

Hello,

This is my first blog posting. I'm starting this blog to occasionally post on all things beauty and beauty related. Occasionally, I will delve into the realm of fashion since it is another addiction of mine.

For starters, my new addiction seems to be skincare. A great canvas is the foundation of a great looking face. Texture and clarity are of great importance.

Facial cleansers have always been an area where I contend that "simple is best." Many people extol the virtues of Cetaphil, Clinque, and other cleansers. However, I'm an oily girl and I've trusted one brand since I hit puberty -- Neutrogena. Although I've tried many cleansers across the whole price point spectrum, I've always returned to my trusted friend, Neutrogena Deep Clean cleanser in the pump. This cleanser is clearly geared towards people with truly oily skin. I wouldn't recommend it if you have combination skin or experience any type of dryness, because this cleanser really cleans. It's not of the weak at heart.

To achieve smooth texture, I discovered an effective, expensive tool in my beauty arsenal. My Clarisonic facial brush is heaven sent. Although I prayed about this purchase to great lengths, I have not regretted this purchase at all. With the Clarisonic, my pores appear smaller and the texture of my skin is much improved. I've even taken to using this brush on my neck, elbows, knees, and other areas for smooth baby soft skin. Rest assured, if this handy tool ever ceases to work, I will most definitely purchase another one. The price is prohibitive but I highly recommend it.
Well, I guess this concludes my first blog posting. Hopefully, there will be more in the future. I'm always finding more products to write about. :)

I think next time, I'll discuss oil control and proper moisturization.

Until next time. Stay Pretty.
